Zirconia Alumina

Zirconia alumina is produced by fusion of zirconium dioxide and aluminum oxide and other additives in electric arc furnace at about 1900°C By controlling furnacing and fast cooling process, more durable grinding materials are obtained. It has alumina-zirconia eutectic crystalline structure typically consists of alumina with 20 to 40 percent zirconia concentration, which enhances the toughness of the alumina.

  • Alumina Zirconia 25% is used primarily for producing large grinding wheels for foundry snagging and track grinding. It is also an excellent blasting material for granite and other materials where long life is required, as well as in some refractory applications.
  • Alumina Zirconia 40% is used for both coated abrasive products and organic bonded grinding wheels.
